Happy FIRST Birthday Piper Leigh! 12/11/14

Happy First Birthday!

Yes, this is happening, Piper is turning 1.

I truly cannot believe how fast this past year has been. It has gone just as fast as you arrived my Sweet Little P. You came five minutes after we arrived at the hospital and now it is hard to believe that you are turning 1!

You are such a sweet, happy baby. You have kept those baby blue eyes. The exact shade since you were born. Your sweet smile and dimples make us all smile ALL the time. Your giggles are contagious and your big brother can sure get you giggling.

You are such a tiny petite thing but you sure can make your voice be heard. We know when you want something or something has made you unhappy.

You are also so close to walking and have been for several months now. You were crawling by 6 months-and you are super FAST. I think you are so fast so you can keep up with your sister and brother. You have been cruising and holding onto things for at least 2 months but you haven’t taken those first steps on your own.

Let’s talk about you and your Dada! You are a Daddy’s girl! You adore him and will crawl to him whenever he enters a room and reach those arms to him. It is the sweetest thing. You don’t say many words yet but have your own way of communicating. You can say Dada, Mama, that, and your own version of Thank You and Daisy (our sweet beagle).

You like to stick to those you know and cry when passed to or left with people you don’t know real well.

You love food but go through phases when Mama has given you something too often. You never seem to tire of bananas though and you are always trying to steal your big sisters food.

Sweet Piper, you hate baths. Mama has tried all different kinds. You would much rather stand and watch your sister and brother then be in the tub.

You are just so adored in this family and we are so happy you are here!

This past year we built a new house so you would have your own room and now you do! You and Summer share a “Jill and Jill” bathroom (instead of Jack and Jill) and you seem to like to sleep in your own room in your crib. Although not so much that you are sleeping through the night consistently. Mama is ready for that.

You have done a fair amount of baby modeling this past year and you made the ads and some packaging. Pretty neat!

You have already been to Disney World 4 times and you are not a fan of the characters yet. Nor are you a fan of Santa!

WE LOVE YOU!

Sweet girl you have changed so much! Mama had monthly pictures taken of you. Here’s some from your Newborn, 3, 6, 9, and 11 month photos shoots. Also your birthday inviting. Your birthday theme is Winder ONEderland!

We can’t wait to see all the new and exciting things you will be doing over this next year.

Happy 3rd Birthday Tucker! 9/30/14

Wow! It seems like the only blog posts I do now are birthday ones! The most important. I need to remember everything and freeze time as much as I can!

THREE! My sweet love, you are turning 3! How can that be? Tucker, you have one of the biggest hearts I know! Considering you are also all boy and into everything it is amazing how you love. Your eyes melt everyone's heart and your kisses, hugs and sweet words are always there!

You like things done your way and can be oh so stubborn. You still climb and problem solve to get your way-good and bad. ALL BOY is so true.

You are in your second year of preschool and LOVE it. You tell me all about your day and sing me songs. You are counting and know your ABC’s. You are even learning sight words from Summer. LOL

You have finally discovered your little sister, Piper. You love to make her smile and help me with her.

You talk nonstop. I really thought with your big Sister all her talking you might not have as much to say or time to say it but you do. You and Summer talk together a lot and play well together- outside, with Legos and in your pretend kitchen.

We aren’t doing a big party this year because we are going to DISNEY for your 3rd birthday. You will get to dress up like a pirate and we are doing Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. You ask every morning, “What we doing today?” and often ask “We go to Disney?”. We in a little over a week we will be back  to our favorite place!

It’s time for me to wrap some more gifts and get some streamers on your door (in our new house). We will have Cabos for dinner tomorrow night with some of your friends and we already celebrated with the family over the weekend. You are loved!

We love you so much sweet boy!

A Fall Photo Shoot-October 2013

The morning of the the bunny incident we actually had professional fall and Halloween pictures taken! They turned out good. Summer was 4 years and Tucker had just turned 2. I was 30 weeks pregnant ( 7 1/2 months).

Things happen in 3’s (October 2013)

So for a while I have been avoiding the blog and wasn’t sure if I was going to blog about Tucker, me and our craziness of October 2013. However, since it has been snowing here (Feb 2014) I wanted to catch up on the blog and decided to go ahead and post what happened. You will see in the pictures and how can I not tell the story?
So the last post was all about our fun at the Buford Corn Maze October 14th and 18th.
Well our visit on the 18th didn’t end as happily as our first. The last picture of Tucker was the rabbit was the last at the Corn Maze. He got the tip of his finger bit off by that rabbit. Thankfully, my MOPS friend Ginny, a nurse, was there to help and my parents were close to come help with the kids. Dad took Summer and Mom went with me.
First we went to a children’s urgent care. They were not going to be able to help him so they sent us to the emergency room at Children’ Health Care of Atlanta.
Here’s some pics I sent to Tom of Tucker in the waiting room. He was in amazingly good spirtis as long as he didn’t see it. He really has a high pain tolerance. This happened around 11:45 and he didn’t get pain meds til 4:30.

tucker2tucker3
Some hospital pics. What a crazy day. Since I was pregnant I couldn’t go back with him for X-rays and that just broke my heart. Thankfully Mom could go and was there. We were at the hospital from 12:30 to 8pm. Tom met us there late afternoon.
So it was determined that he would need to see a hand specialist and would more then likely need surgery. I was heartbroken for my baby and didn’t know what the final outcome for his finger would be. The tip was gone. Would he have a fingernail? Would he lose the top of his finger? I was just devastated. And of course I played the what if game and blamed myself. I know you can’t and this was a freak accident. I let my kids live life to the fullest and provide them with many life experiences but this was very dramatic to go through at 31 weeks pregnant with your 2 year old. I mean the week before we were feeding Alpacas!
So on the following Tuesday I had to take Tucker to see a hand specialist. The dr examined and determined that Tucker would need surgery and there were several different outcomes. In the best case scenario he would have a shorter finder with feeling and a nail bed. I don’t even want to mention the other options. Tucker took one look at his finder and threw up. I couldn’t even look.
I pretty much cried the whole hour drive home.
tucker4tucker5
Until Tucker had surgery they kept his hand and finger wrapped in a soft cast to protect it. Of course he would try and unwrap it and freak his Mama out! LOL That’s my boy!
tucker6
Here Tucker is on his way to have surgery! Such a funny kid! hat on backwards and stuffed animals galore!
tucker7
So Tucker’s surgery had to be delayed by 6 hours because he found 1 goldfish in his car seat and ate it. Yes, ONE goldfish! So the poor kid hadn’t eaten since the night before and was supposed to have surgery at 2 that then got pushed to 6. The nurses did allow him to have a popsicle since that was liquid and now he had 6 more hours of no eating.
The surgery went well and he ended up in a cast to protect his finger. That actually made me feel better since there was no way he could get that off and it made everyone be extra careful. Only time would tell how his finger was healing.
IMG_1197IMG_1198
Summer thought that when you signed a cast you wrote that person's name. So she drew a sunshine and started to write Tucker’s name. Then she decided to write his initial.
tucker8
My Aunt Paula sent Tucker, Herman the Giraffe. Her son (my cousin), went through a similar experience when he was little and his Herman got him through it. She wrote the most amazing note and sent Herman and I will be forever grateful for her insight and encouragement.
So many people prayed for Tucker and us and I really cannot express how grateful we are for our family, friends, my MOPS group and everyone at Tucker’s preschool-Celebration Academy. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful support.
Tucker would end up with 3 different casts and many many follow up appointments. It wasn’t until mid-December that we knew for sure that it was the best case scenario-shortened finger with feeling and a nail bed and that the dr’s appointments stopped. We drove over an hour weekly to see his hand specialist who was amazing. We are beyond grateful for him. It took some time but Tucker is back to normal using his arm and his finger. You can’t tell as much now but as he gets older his right index finger will always be a little shorter and boy will he have a story to tell. I wonder if he will change it form a rabbit to some crazy animal or something.
That was the first event in October-October 18th.
So on Monday October 28th (now 32 weeks pregnant) I was rear ended while waiting to turn into the preschool to pick up Summer. Luckily Tucker was with mom and Dad. I was sitting a standstill to turn in and never saw it coming. The girl that hit me never stopped just slammed into me. While I was really shook up and of course concerned about my precious baby growing in my tummy I just couldn’t believe it had happened, let a lone to me.
The teachers at Summer and Tucker’s preschool all came running and our good friend Michelle had just picked up her daughter came as well. Thank goodness for all the support. Everyone involved was a ok. I had to have Michelle call Tom and Mom. I just couldn’t call them again just over a week later so upset again.
IMG_1361
My poor car! It took about a month before it was returned to me. While it was being fixed I drove “Big Red” an extended cab Dodge Ram truck that was red. It must have been really amusing to see a 32-36 week pregnant women get in and out of this red truck with her 2 year old and 4 year old.  I really did grow to love the truck!
I had to go to Labor and Delivery to be monitored and wouldn’t you know it I started having contractions just as I was about to be released. So I had to stay overnight. They checked on our precious baby girl and she was doing great. They stopped and I felt good so I was realized the next morning (in time to take Tucker to his post surgery appointment). Whew life is always so crazy!
So #3 happened on Halloween. I mean there just had to be a third thing right?!? Halloween also happens to be Tom's birthday! Poor guy! I started not feeling great that afternoon but just pushed through it for the kids. I mean it was Halloween!
Well by the time we loaded them on the golf cart to go trick or treating I was white as a ghost and just couldn’t go. I had the stomach bug. Tucker had the stomach bug Tuesday night (yes Monday night I was in the hospital and Tuesday night he had the stomach bug). Wednesday was pretty calm but then Thursday (Halloween) I got the stomach bug.
I stayed in bed and waited until the kids were all settled in bed after trick or treating to let Tom know I was once again having contractions. I ended up back at the hospital to get 2 bags of fluid to stop them and rehydrate me. The next day I was in bed all day and at was now 32 weeks pregnant. All of this happened in 2 weeks! Baby made it through well and we all survived!
That’s our crazy October!
Fun pics at Burt’s Farm and Halloween to come!
